CORROSION ENGINEERING ENGINE

Corrosion engineering,
codified.

One engine core holds the plant data, and every module works from it: damage-mechanism screening and assessment today, with IOW, RBI and the corrosion control document in development. A result in one module is available to all the others.

01 · The Engine

One core. Connected modules.

Corrosion studies usually live in separate spreadsheets: one for damage mechanisms, another for IOWs, another for RBI. In CorroNexus every module works from the same engine core, so what one module finds is used by the others. The engine is rule-based: the same input gives the same answer, and each result shows its reason.

Engine core

The main dashboard. It holds the plant registers, process data and every module's results in one place, so each module reads what the others have found and writes its own result back.

01Built · tested on real studies

DM Screener

Damage-mechanism screening for complete plant registers.

  • Checks the material, the environment and its temperature range, and the component. A mechanism is assigned only when all three apply.
  • Fills one external and up to four internal mechanisms per component, in the column layout of the study register.
  • Asks for blank inputs in a data request instead of assuming them, and follows each client's naming practice.
02Built · growing

DM Assay

The back office of the engine.

  • Runs a detailed check for one damage mechanism at a time, only on the components where the screener assigned it.
  • Writes the result back to the core, where the other modules use it.
  • Keeps growing: new mechanisms are added as they are built and checked.
03In development

Tagline IOW

Integrity operating windows.

  • Will set limits for the parameters operators can control, starting from the mechanisms already in the core.
  • Based on IOW registers and workshops from refinery, petrochemical and gas-processing projects.
04In development

RBI Assessor

Risk-based inspection.

  • Will use the mechanisms, assay results and operating windows already held in the core, instead of re-entering them.
05In development

CCD Model

The corrosion control document.

  • Will collect the results of every other module into one document per unit or corrosion loop.
02 · Validation

Checked against studies already delivered.

We ran the Stage-1 screener on the registers of five completed corrosion studies and compared its output, component by component, with the mechanisms the engineers had written. Only the counts are reported here. The client data stays on our own machines.

3,929
plant components
from five studies covering refining, petrochemicals, gas processing and LPG / terminals
88%
external mechanism
the same external mechanism as the delivered register
79% / 76%
internal precision / recall
internal mechanisms compared with what the engineers assigned
3,516
consistency test cases
the browser version and the Python reference gave identical results in every case

These figures measure agreement with the delivered studies, not absolute accuracy. Most of the remaining differences are client-specific choices, or inputs the registers never recorded, which the engine reports as missing data. The engine makes a proposal. The final decision stays with a qualified corrosion engineer.

03 · Working with us

The engine holds the rules, not the standards.

What the engine contains is engineering logic: how materials, process conditions and components combine into damage mechanisms and the actions that follow. It does not copy the text, tables or numbering of published standards, and it does not hold material-property data. That makes it a good fit alongside materials databases, inspection systems and asset-performance platforms, which hold that data under their own licences.

For software platforms

Integration and licensing

The rules sit in editable files, with a Python reference version and a browser version that give identical results.

  • A material resolver that reads grades the way engineers write them
  • DM Screener and DM Assay as connected modules, with more to come
  • Each result traceable to its inputs and the rule that produced it
For operators and EPCs

Corrosion studies, delivered with the engine

Damage-mechanism reviews, corrosion loops and circuits, IOW registers, corrosion control documents and RBI corrosion studies. The engine does the screening, and a senior corrosion engineer reviews and signs the work.

  • Your register templates in, the same registers back filled in
  • Missing inputs listed as a data request, not assumed
04 · Vision & Mission

Every corrosion decision, from the wellhead to the refinery and petrochemical plant, should be based on data, easy to check, and repeatable.

Mission

To turn senior corrosion-engineering judgement into a tested engine, so that integrity decisions can be traced and defended, and do not depend on one person's spreadsheets or memory.

About CorroNexus

Field experience, built into the engine.

CorroNexus is a corrosion and asset-integrity engineering practice. Its method comes from more than 17 years of damage-mechanism reviews, RBI corrosion studies, IOWs and corrosion control documents, across the whole hydrocarbon chain. That method now sits in the engine, so every project gets the same senior approach, whoever runs it, and every result can be checked.

  • UpstreamOil and gas production and processing: central processing facilities, gas treatment and sour service, offshore and onshore.
  • MidstreamPipelines, LPG, storage tanks and marine terminals: pipeline integrity, cathodic protection and tank integrity.
  • DownstreamRefining and petrochemicals: crude and vacuum units, hydroprocessing, FCC, reforming, aromatics, fertilisers, and steam, power and cooling-water utilities.

The methodology follows the recognised industry frameworks (API, AMPP, ASME). They are cited as the basis of the method, not as a claim of compliance or endorsement. No text, table, figure or numbering from a published standard is reproduced on this site or in the engine's output; users work from their own licensed copies.
